product looked used and it was a bit faulty like the ear cups are loose. the sound quality is standard but not happy with the way the product came

I purchased these headphones last week which actually came sleightly earlier than expected.
I was sleightly worried these would be fake as there is a big chunk off the RRP,
i entered the serial number at beatsbydre and these are 100% leggit,

the sound quality is unbelievable, having these for a week if i could turn back time i would deffinatly buy these again!!

only problem i have with mine is that on the underside of the headband there is a sleight gap between the cussion and the plastic which should not be like that as its not like that the other side also a problem with the handsfree cable, the box that you talk into, the back it not clipped in property it still works but is not a tight seal which is what made me think the might be fake bt they are not, luckily i dont use the handsfree cable ant the gap under the headband you cant see nor does it cause and problems so it doesnt bother me.

but well worth the buy!!!!

I bought this because I thought the size would be great for carrying around, the trouble is the screen is probably a bit too small for easy touch control, but overall the device is well designed with a logical menu structure.

Now to the important bit and were it all starts to go wrong, try hooking this upto a decent pair of headphones and the sound quality really disapoints. The sound is flat with quite poor stereo seperation, in fact I was so dissapointed that I've put it on ebay and got a New Apple iPod touch 32GB (4th Generation) from Amazon. The touch absolutely blows the nano out of the water when it comes to sound quality, you can hear every detail and the music really comes to life.

In summary, this is OK if you need something small and aren't bothered about the sound quality.

I have only been using my new nano for a couple of weeks, but I'm already hooked.

I bought it as an alternative to my old 1GB shuffle. I was finding the lack of a screen and small capacity very frustrating, so 8GB is a luxury for me!

It is very attractive, as you'd expect from Apple. I have added a silicone skin and screen protector to mine to keep it scratch free.

I like the menus and how you scroll through them, they are arranged into 'artists', 'albums', 'tracks' and 'audiobooks' etc with a button on the main menu for each. The buttons are the right size for my fingers and easy to use on the go.

The shake to shuffle function looks a bit odd to people watching but it is handy not to have to look through menus to change a track.

Radio is easy to set and use.

A bonus for me is the pedometer which I didn't know existed until I booted it up. It is linked to the 'Nike plusactive' website it tracks your steps and shows how far you've walked. I find I challenge myself to do a few extra steps every day.

Sound quality is fine from the standard headphones, but I use my own headphones with it because I find them more comfortable.

Battery life is good, I wish it came with a mains charger but they can be bought separately.

Overall I'm delighted with my new toy!

I have had my ipod nano a few days now and here is my review:
Appearance and general:
This thing is tiny! It has a 1.5 inch screen and is very thin and light. I got mine in a pink colour and it look fantastic!
The battery life is impressive. You can get hours of playback- I think I get about 20...
Loading music on is very easy. You need to install itunes and load up any CDs and then they can be synced onto the device.
Features:
Here are all of the features on the ipod nano:
Playlists.
You simply elet your favourite songs and create your own albums. I find this feature very useful when I just want to listen to half an hour of my favourite songs.
Genius mixes.
This is a feature where, from what you have been listening to and what is in your library, it suggests new songs and albums for you to try. I found this feature good at times but it mostly goes unused.
Music.
This, obviously, is the main part of the ipod. You can select what songs to play via Artists, Songs, Albums, Genres or composers. Music quality is excellent, but I would recommend that you buy some half decent headphones. You can shake to shuffle. There is a voiceover feature, by holding on the button on the apple earphones, it can tell you what song you are listening to and who it is by in a robot voice. I do not use this feature and so did switch to better quality earphones.
Radio.
Not the best. But what, really, can you expect? Some stations have decent quality, like the local stations the nano finds for you. You can select certain stations as your favourites, and then you can find them easily. You can also stop and rewind the radio.
Podcasts.
High quality stuff. There are loads of podcasts to choose from, for free, on the itunes store. It does not play any podcast that are video and not audio, instead you can listen to it whilst you see a freeze frame.
Settings.
You can basically change the brightness wallpaper, set a pedometer goal, change photo settings and other settings.
Photos.
The photos are incredibly high quality. You can play slideshows where they zoom in on the photos.
Fitness.
A basic pedometer. You can also view your pedometer personal bests and your workout totals.
Clock.
As you would expect. Also includes a stopwatch and timer.

The bottom line is that it is a very good divice. Some people may be missing the video and camera features. But I do not. The small size and shape just wouldn't be suitable for video or a camera.
Basically, I LOVE IT!

I've been a fan of archos for a long time - ever since I had an Archos 20 GB MP3 player, I've followed their products religiously, from the Archos MP4 player, Archos 500, 605, 5, and now this. The only reason I bought this was because I broke my SECOND Archos 5 by accidentally dropping it. They do not survive the slightest drop, which is a shame, but good for them because they make more money. Anyways, this device is a fair bit larger in comparison with the older Archos 5 (which, is worth buying as long as you don't drop it), which in itself isn't too much of an issue. What I am finding very frustrating and disappointing is that it regularly "hangs" on me, requiring a reboot. Also, very occasionally, the volume goes full blast for a few milliseconds, and then goes back to original volume - unfortunately this still makes me jump out of my seat. The "Home" button doesn't actually go home, it goes to the home of the current media category. You then have to go back one to go home. The automatic switching between landscape and portrait does not work well. Often times while I'm holding it horizontal, it switches to vertical, forcing me to flick my wrist so that it goes horizontal again. Their instructions say that you HAVE to use Media Player 11 to transfer files and music. I don't like Media Player 11, luckily I figured out I can reformat the device to be Windows compatible so it appears as a drive letter for me. The device takes longer to boot than it's predecessor, because it's using a new operating system - Android. Is this a good thing? In my opinion - no. It was fine before, they've just gone and make something that was really good - much worse. Oh, and yes I did upgrade the firmware to the latest version - still problematic.

I would highly encourage you to NOT "upgrade" to this device, because it will put you off Archos forever. Their older non Internet Tablet Archos 5 is still available to purchase, please buy one of them. Sure, it has less hard drive space than this one and it will break if you drop it, but you'll enjoy the product much more. I'm hoping this one breaks (or I'll throw it against the wall in frustration one day when it cuts out on me), and I'll buy the older, more reliable Archos 5.

I can't beleive how much music I've put on this, still with loads of room to spare. Excellent picture and sound quality. Web radio and podcast access is great. I didn't realise it handled "sideloading" with BBC iPlayer so well. Pity web video streaming from the main channels is not properly implemented at the moment. Touch screen odd if you're used to a multi-touch screen, but this is very useable all the same. There is an easy hack available to adapt this to full google market apps such as You Tube and Maps etc. Nice one Archos. I'm getting the DVR dock next..

I ordered the Archos 5 internet tablet 500GB version as I was initially attracted by its large hard drive. I have filled my ipod classic 160GB and was looking for an alternative.
To my surprise (!), I encountered similar problems in faulty functionality as other reviewers. I normally take close notice of Amazon reviews but was blinkered by the apparent amount of functions.
For 300+ pounds, I expect a product that works and expect prompt customer supoprt from the manufacturer.
Here's my experience:

My problems:
1) The GPS function refused to pick up any satellites. A delayed response back from Archos support said that the unit needs repair.
2) Also, i found the music player and the FM radio to crash several times in one evening while navigating through my music library.

The Bad points:
1) The GPS functionality (it you get it to work) only has a 7 day trial period then you have to pay either £39 for a license for UK and Ireland or £49 for Europe.
2) The GPS drains the battery quickly
3) Slow reponse times to menu selection
4) The need to immediately download a software/firmware updates straight out of the box.
5) WiFi range was far less than my laptop computer. My router is downstairs but I couldn't use the WiFi on the Archos in my bedroom, although the laptop would pick up a medium strength signal.
6) The battery seems to take forever to charge on USB.
7) Cold boot time can be at least 2 minutes. (there is a "deep sleep" mode which allows quick start up but this will use battery)
8) When you leave a question/problem/query for Archos technical support, you are told you should receive a response within 2 business days. The earliest they replied to me was 5 business days. Keep to your own promises, Archos!

Good points:
1) Large hard drive space for videos and music
2) PDF viewer (but slow refresh rate)
3) Built in speaker (but quiet and tinny)
4) High resolution screen for looing at video and photos.

In summary, I sent mine back for a refund due to the faults mentioned above, but overall I was disappointed by the performance of the music player - which is what I originally bought it for.
I did read other reviews about the problems other people had out of the box - they were true. Goodness knows what the manufacturing yield Archos manage to achieve on this product - it must be really low.
Very disappointing.

I have these since 2 years and use them almost every day to play internet radio from the computer everywhere in the house. The wireless section is very good. It works through walls and even in the basement although the transmitter is on the second floor. Congrats as well for the remote control that has very progressive volume level adjustment. The batteries in the speakers are lasting at least a full day i.e. 12 hours minimum and there is an auto switch off when the source stops more than 20 mn that is quite smart. The ergonomy is good as well since each speaker has a built in handle in the back. They're quite strong too: I dropped one speaker once on hard floor and absolutely nothing happened.
The only slight reproach I'd have is on the sound quality. The overal quality is quite acceptable though but these are 1 way speakers so the tonality is obviously more in the medium range. Unfortunately they are not equipped with coaxial speakers for crisper treble. The bass is not too bad actually for speakers of that size and can easily be improved (at least in the room where the dock is) by plugging in an external bass unit. They are a bit pricey but overall I'd say it's good value for the money. I still haven't seen a better or as pleasant device as this one, considering the use I have of it. A good purchase.
